AN INTRODUCTION

A multi-disciplinary and internationally exhibited artist, art director, production designer, and director, I build worlds—layered, textured, and charged with atmosphere. Based in Manchester, UK, my work spans film, music, fashion, and fine art, sitting somewhere between memory and hallucination, where visuals aren’t just seen but felt.

With a diverse career and a signature aesthetic, I’ve spent the past decade moving fluidly between art direction, production design, photography, videography, directing, editing, motion graphics, and post-production.

My working practice is driven by a deep connection to design, music, and filmmaking, crafting immersive visuals that leave an imprint. Instinct, experimentation, and a refusal to keep things in neat boxes fuels everything I do.

PRODUCTION DESIGN & ART DIRECTION

At the core of my work is world-building—taking a concept and turning it into a fully immersive visual space. Whether it’s film, fashion, commercials, or live performances, I create environments that feel like they’ve always existed, rich with texture, history, and atmosphere.

I lead a creative design studio that specialises in crafting vintage and retro mid-century worlds, designing everything from interiors and set builds to full-scale production environments. Drawing from an extensive archive of period references, design history, and cinematic influences, I bring a tactile authenticity to every project, whether it's a meticulously curated 1960s dreamscape, a faded motel frozen in time, or a hyper-stylized art deco nightclub.

I work across:

  • Production Design – Full-scale set design and styling for film, TV, commercials, and music videos

  • Art Direction – Visual storytelling, prop curation, and scene styling for campaigns, editorial shoots, and fashion films

  • Set Decoration & Styling – Sourcing, designing, and dressing interiors with a cinematic, nostalgic, or era-specific touch

  • Concept Development & Moodboarding – Translating ideas, aesthetics, and references into fully realized visual spaces

My approach blends meticulous research, intuitive styling, and a deep understanding of filmic and photographic composition, ensuring every frame looks rich, immersive, and deeply lived-in. Whether it’s recreating a 1970s sun-bleached Americana feel, crafting a hyper-stylized 80s neon fever dream, or sourcing the perfect mid-century details to complete a set, I create worlds that transport audiences, pull them into the frame, and feel as authentic as they do surreal.

As CO of The Afternoon LTD, I lead a creative design studio that licenses artwork and designs interior and exterior worlds—whether that’s for homes, films, TV, or fashion campaigns.  (Click here to see design work.)

THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

I cut my teeth in Manchester’s music scene, where I started out working A&R, fostering new talent, and building visual identities for artists. That naturally led to music video production, press kits, live sessions, photography, and full campaign visuals—helping bands create a distinctive look that feels like their sound. I still work closely with independent artists, connecting musicians with the right visual world, venues, and creative collaborators.

DIRECTOR / ARTIST

Alongside her commercial work, Sophie is a multi-disciplinary, experimental visual artist specialising in creating immersive video art. Characterised by bright mesmeric hues and melancholic figure expressions, her work blurs the lines between memory and hallucination.

The cinematic landscape is one of the things at the forefront of her work, visually and thematically: Road trips, death, escapism, dualism and visuals incorporate and intertwine lived experiences with filmic hyperrealities.

Harnessing new techniques and traditional methods, Sophie's work spans everything from AI, to analogue video synths, paint, photography to 16mm film.
